Barclaycard U.S., the Wilmington, Del., credi card issuing unit of Barclays PLC of London, said Tuesday that it has hired Phillip W. Steitz as its chief information officer.
Mr. Steitz will manage the unit's business technology group and will also serve on the Barclaycard U.S. executive committee. He reports to Joe Purzycki, the unit's chief operating officer.
Mr. Steitz was most recently a senior vice president and the chief technology officer for American Express Co. He has also worked at Intelligroup Inc., Entersoft Systems Corp. (now BEA Systems Inc.), Financial Dynamics, and Target Systems Development Inc.
