Barnett Names Terry to New Investment Post

Barnett Banks appointed Donna L. Terry to the newly created position of chief investment officer.

The Jacksonville, Fla.-based company announced the move Tuesday. Ms. Terry will oversee all institutional and retail portfolio management and trading activities. She will report to Richard H. Jones, Barnett's chief asset management executive.

It is the third investment executive appointment in as many weeks at Barnett. The company has been increasing staff, trying to attract more top- rate talent in a bid to increase sales and assets under management.

In a related move, Barnett formed Barnett Capital Advisors, a unit that will manage Barnett's $9.8 billion in institutional and retail investments. Ms. Terry is president and chief executive of the new unit.

Ms. Terry previously was a vice president and institutional equity portfolio manager for Boston Co. She also worked as a portfolio manager for Pioneer Group, a Boston-based mutual fund company.
