BB&T Corp. hired David Fisher, a former Bank of America Corp. executive, to run its wealth management division.
The hiring was announced Monday. Mr. Fisher said in an interview that Mark Wenick, his predecessor as the head of BB&T Wealth Management, left to pursue a private business opportunity.
Mr. Fisher, 59, had worked for 10 years as a senior managing director of B of A's private banking division before retiring in 2003. Most recently, he was the chief operating officer of Doozer Software Inc., a Birmingham, Ala., software development company.
BB&T Wealth Management, which is based in Winston-Salem, N.C., has more than $10 billion of assets under management. Mr. Fisher is based in Charlotte.
