BDO Seidman has brought on Richard Hauer, a commercial property workout professional, to assist the New York consulting firm's bankruptcy and restructuring professionals on all real estate-related issues.
Commercial real estate problems are expected to continue festering in coming years because not all corners of the credit markets have seen a return to complete normalcy.
"For the retail sector, we're all waiting to see what happens during back-to-school [sales] and holiday season," Hauer said.
Hauer comes from Great American Group, where he was president of real estate advisory services. He has advised clients that included real estate investment trusts, retailers, financial institutions and developers.
Hauer has testified and provided valuation expertise in high-profile Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and has restructured real property and debt used to finance commercial property purchases.
