Better ID Control via Experian, Microsoft

Experian and Microsoft have developed an identity management service that uses the Microsoft Windows CardSpace PC-based identity manager and the security features of Experian, such as site authentication. CardSpace works by sending information submitted by users through Experian to authenticate ID’s of the sender and to verify the third-party site that’s to receive the data. All interactions between the individual, Experian and the organization are encrypted and digitally signed to protect the information from many forms of data and identity attack, according to Experian.

The service is not only touted as a more secured, user-controlled environment, but as a way to introduce fewer verification steps and details for users to worry about, and enable organizations to cut down on customer-facing activity like resetting forgotten passwords.
The identity verification system has just passed with both firms say was the proof-of-concept phase, and are in discussions with numerous organizations to roll out in the near future.
