Lord (Peter) Levene was named chairman of Bankers Trust International Thursday and will lead the firm's investment banking business in Europe.
Lord Levene, who is to join Bankers Trust in London Monday, has been a senior adviser at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter there since 1996. He has also been deputy chairman of Wasserstein Perella in London.
At Bankers Trust, Lord Levene will report to Yves de Balmann and Mayo Shattuck 3d, vice chairmen of the parent, Bankers Trust Corp., and co- chairmen and co-chief executive officers of BT Alex. Brown Inc., the company's investment banking unit.
Lord Levene is also running for Lord Mayor of the City of London. If elected at the end of this month, he would begin a one-year term in November.
