C&S/Sovran Gives Ad Business to Bozell

C&S/Sovran Corp. has shifted its advertising account to Bozell/Dallas in anticipation of the bank's merger with NCNB Corp.

In doing so, Atlanta-based C&S/Sovran is dismissing GSD&M of Austin, Tex., which came out the winner in a six-month agency review in August.

The Bozell office already handles advertising for NCNB, which is based in Charlotte, N.C. It was not considered in the C&S review because the NCNB business would have represented a conflict at the time.

"The proposed merger with NCNB changes the situation considerably," said Grant O'Neal, C&S/Sovran's advertising director. "However, our objective remains the same: to select an agency that will enable us to speak with one unified voice across our markets."

Until the merger is completed, Bozell will have separate teams working on the C&S/Sovran and NCNB business. When the merger is completed, the teams will work on the joint NationsBank account.
