California CU Offers Fiserv's Mobile Money

Fiserv Inc. said Monday that Merced School Employees Federal Credit Union in California has begun offering the Brookfield, Wis., vendor's mobile money transfer system.

Members of the credit union can access the service using text messages or a cell phone browser. The credit union also plans to offer a downloadable application for the Apple Inc. iPhone.

The Fiserv product, Mobile Money, allows access to money transfers, bill payments, alerts and other banking services via cell phones and other devices.

"Increasingly, people want to bank on the run, and that means being able to access their accounts from a mobile device," Nancy Deavours, Merced's chief executive, said in a press release from Fiserv.
