Capital Brief: Go-Ahead for Credit Union to Become Thrift

The Office of Thrift Supervision on Friday approved an application by Synergy Federal Credit Union to convert to a federal mutual thrift.

The $177 million-asset credit union based in Cranford, N.J., received clearance from the National Credit Union Administration on Thursday. It still must conduct a membership vote, which is expected in January or February.
