Capital Briefs: ABA Schedules Compliance School in October

The American Bankers Association's National Compliance School is set for Oct. 3-9 at the University of Oklahoma in Norman.

The first three days cover lending issues, including loan disclosures, flood insurance, equal credit opportunity requirements, community reinvestment rules, and lending to insiders.

Midweek ABA is offering a half-day seminar providing how-to information on developing and managing a compliance program and sketching the current regulatory landscape.

The final three days are devoted to deposit and operational compliance issues, including the Bank Secrecy Act, check-clearing deadlines, and federal deposit insurance.

Bankers may attend either or both sessions, and the half-day seminar is free. The cost for both lending and deposit school is $2,195 for ABA members and $2,995 for nonmembers.

The school will be repeated March 6-12.
