Capital One Offers Remote Feature

Capital One Financial Corp. has spruced up its remote deposit service to make it easier for business customers to integrate deposits into accounting software programs.

The McLean, Va., banking company said Monday that its Apply Payments tool cuts excess work for treasury management clients after they deposit checks remotely with a computer scanner. The tool eliminates the need to re-key information into programs such as Intuit Inc.'s QuickBooks and Sage Group PLC's Peachtree.

It also automatically updates accounts receivable information, the bank said.

Colleen Taylor, the executive vice president and head of Capital One's treasury management business, said in a press release that the new feature was part of the bank's efforts to beef up this part of its business this year. The tool would help clients "spend more time on focusing on their broader business objectives," Taylor said.
