Buypass Corp. announced the addition of Alabama, Massachusetts, and Oklahoma to its electronic benefits transfer gateway service.
The transaction processor, owned by Electronic Payment Services Inc., now provides EBT processing in 16 states.
EBT allows for the delivery of benefits to cardholding welfare recipients through supermarkets, other retailers, and automated teller machines. Buypass provides switching and authorization for these types of transactions.
EBT is one of the fastest growing transaction categories at Buypass, the company said, with volumes more than doubling year over year. The programs are generating about 1.6 million gateway transactions per month.
