Diebold International Ltd. has hired Richard Eagland as country manager for the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Mr. Eagland, formerly of International Business Machines Corp., will have sales and service responsibilities.
Until last year, Diebold relied on IBM to distribute its automated teller machines in Europe.
"I am delighted to join the company at such an exciting time," Mr. Eagland said. "Diebold has established a strong market position in the United States-the world's largest ATM market-and is now well poised to take a leading share in the international market."
He was for three years IBM's manager of self-service solutions for the United Kingdom and Ireland. He also spent 22 years with Philips Data Systems and Digital Equipment Corp. in sales and marketing.
