Europay International reported that its cardholders are conducting euro-based transactions primarily at toll booths, over the Internet, and through mail and telephone orders.

Since Jan. 1, MasterCard International's European affiliate has been monitoring cross-border transactions with the new currency using a system called Euro Tracker.

A report based on January and February activity showed that the most euro transactions occurred in France, Germany, and Belgium, in that order.

The Dutch are making the most euro purchases, the Germans are second, and the British third.
