HNC Financial Solutions, a unit of HNC Software Inc., said it has taken a minority stake in AIM Solutions Inc. as part of a strategic alliance and marketing relationship.

HNC, which specializes in neural network technology and predictive software for consumer marketing, said it will combine AIM's marketing and campaign management systems with customer relationship management, or CRM, products.

AIM of Campbell, Calif., provides marketing automation software and services mainly to Internet direct marketers.

"We have found that most CRM implementations do not address the management of marketing data outside the organization," said Drew Hyatt, vice president of HNC Financial Solutions."
