TORONTO - NBS Technologies Inc., the Canadian manufacturer of point of sale equipment, said its sales increased by $6.1 million, or 19%, in the last three months of 1994. (The results are in Canadian dollars.)

Net income was $74,000, compared with a loss of $989,000 a year earlier, while the gross profit margin improved to 38.4% from 37.1%.

Like competitor International Verifact, NBS reported strong demand from Canadian financial institutions as they rolled out the Interac debit payment system. The company also had significant growth in imaging, imprinting, and card personalization systems.
