The American Hospital Association is offering Visa commercial cards to its members through a deal with Paymentech Inc.
Paymentech, a Dallas-based Banc One Corp. subsidiary, is processing transactions made on the cards, which it issues through a Salt Lake City affiliate.
The American Hospital Association's financial services unit, AHA Insurance Resource Inc., is marketing the purchase and travel and entertainment cards to the association's members, which include 5,000 health-care organizations.
The cards offer an alternative to traditional processing of payables and small purchases.
The program "increases efficiency by reducing purchase orders and check- issuance costs," said James W. Baumgartner, president of Paymentech's commercial card division.
