are enjoying additional revenue from their marketing partnerships with the Ford Citibank cobranded card. When a consumer uses her Ford Citibank card at Texaco or Hertz locations, the rebate value is 10%, compared with 5% for other purchases. Brittain Associates, the company that conducted the study, said that 23% of those planning to use the earned rebate to purchase or lease a Ford car, make an effort to buy gas at Texaco, and 15% said they select Hertz when renting a car in order to get to the $3,500 rebate cap faster. Based on the study projections, about 400,000 households are now more likely to buy Texaco gas, and about 250,000 are more likely to rent a car from Hertz. The annual study contacted 6,000 households to locate Ford Citibank cardholders. The study said there are currently 4.4 million such cardholders in the United States, up nearly 350,000 accounts, or 7%, since last year.
