The transaction processing company Concord EFS said it will use Verifone Inc.'s SoftPay software for electronic benefits transfer services, Verifone announced.
With OmniPak II-a package that includes SoftPay, the Omni 396 terminal, and PrintPak 350 thermal printer-merchants can accept EBT and any other card or check transaction, and the system is upgradeable as needs change.
The Verifone system "enables Concord EFS to reach a larger base of customers and better serve existing customers with more options at a lower cost than ever before," said Concord president Ed Labry.
Robin Abrams, president of Verifone, a Hewlett-Packard Co. subsidiary, said that with SoftPay handling EBT "we can continue to establish the software as the premier solution for reducing the acquirer's overall cost of ownership."
