Visa U.S.A. has extended its sponsorship of the U.S. ski and snowboard team through the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
Visa said it will market the partnership through television and print advertising, retail promotions, and event sponsorship. The Visa logo will appear on team uniforms.
Visa also plans to renew its "Give the U.S. Ski Team a Lift" program, donating a percentage of card transactions to the team. Visa's total contributions are approaching $2 million.
"By extending our relationship with the U.S. ski and snowboard team, Visa member banks, merchants, and cardholders will continue to capitalize on the team's successes, the ski industry's retail and travel business, and ultimately the 2002 Winter Olympic Games," said Michael Lynch, Visa U.S.A. vice president of event and sponsorship marketing.
