Visa International's sponsorships of the Olympics and the National Football League will come into play at the Denver Broncos-San Diego Chargers pre-season game this weekend in Australia.
The teams will square off in the NFL American Bowl at the new Olympic Stadium in Sydney. It is the latest in a series of NFL games at international locations dating back to 1986.
Visa will be designated the "official card of the 1999 Sydney NFL American Bowl," being played in the same stadium where the 2000 Olympic Games will be centered next summer. Visa is also the "official card of the Denver Broncos and the San Diego Chargers in Australia."
"Visa has teamed with the principal tourism entities in Australia to create hundreds of merchant, retail, and travel programs leading up to and beyond the Olympic Games to benefit our members and their cardholders," said Tom Shepard, senior vice president of marketing partnerships and sponsorships at Visa International. "The American Bowl will further focus audiences on Sydney and our partners."
