Cards Briefs: Omaha Bank Offers Merchants E-Services

First National Bank of Omaha's merchant credit card operation said it is offering its clients electronic commerce services from Cybersource Corp. of San Jose, Calif.

First of Omaha Merchant Services said the Cybersource Internet Commerce Suite -- consisting of payment, tax-calculation, risk management, distribution control, and fulfillment services -- will enable customers to outsource their complex Internet commerce requirements without sacrificing flexibility and control.

Cybersource has a close relationship with Visa U.S.A. and several other top merchant processing organizations. Steve Klebe, its vice president of payment industry alliances, said, "Merchants look to their bank for advice when it comes to selecting a service provider, and Cybersource is proud to have earned that respect from First of Omaha."

The First of Omaha unit's president, Nick Baxter, said, "It is essential to provide to our customers at all levels services that include advanced security features." Without them, he said, "it is impossible to fully exploit in a cost-effective manner the massive opportunities for commerce on the Internet."
