Carolina Premier Hires Director of SBA Lending

Carolina Premier Bank in Charlotte, N.C., has hired Don Jackson from Community One Bank in Asheboro, N.C., as director of Small Business Administration lending, a new position at the bank.

Jackson joined the $240 million-asset Carolina Premier in July, according to his LinkedIn profile; the Charlotte Business Journal also reported the hiring. He had worked in the small-business lending group and in business development at the $2.3 billion-asset Community since January 2015.

A number of banks are establishing or expanding SBA lending divisions. The 3.4 billion-asset First Bancorp in Southern Pines, N.C., announced in August that it had started an SBA lending business. Also in August, F.N.B. in Pittsburgh recruited Christopher Kwiatkowski from Yadkin Financial in Raleigh, N.C., as director of SBA lending in Charlotte. F.N.B. has agreed to acquire Yadkin.
