Chase Names Elaine Agather To Top Post in Dallas Market

Chase Bank of Texas has promoted Elaine B. Agather to chairman and chief executive officer of its Dallas region.

She succeeds Todd Maclin, who will remain a vice chairman of the Chase Manhattan Corp. subsidiary.

Ms. Agather, 48, has spent her entire career with Chase and its predecessors. She started with Chemical Bank in New York in 1979, and was transferred to Dallas in 1984 as a vice president. She soon moved to Texas Commerce Bank, which Chemical bought in 1987, as an executive vice president and department manager for corporate, correspondent, and middle- market lending in north Texas, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.

After the Chase-Chemical merger she became chairman of Chase Texas' Fort Worth region. Later she was named statewide manager of its private bank; she will retain the job.
