When this year's rankings were made public on Sept. 27, the media couldn't get enough. From hometown gazettes to America's largest, everyone was writing about The Most Powerful Women in Banking.
Editors from The Wall Street Journal published a highlights piece the same day the rankings were released, noting that "It seems like every year is a tough year for women on Wall Street." The New York Times happily attended the event, noting in its coverage that during a Q&A with American Banker's Barb Rehm, analyst Meredith Whitney's predicted that US Bank's Pamela Joseph could be the first female CEO of a top 10 bank.
On the day of the National Leadership Workshop and celebration dinner, five of this year's most powerful, along with Rehm, were guests on CNBC's Banking on America segment, talking about the ranking, and the state of the industry overall.
