CheckFree Closes Deal for Corillian

CheckFree Corp. has completed its $245 million acquisition of the online banking provider Corillian Corp. of Hillsboro, Ore.

CheckFree, which bought the payments software and consulting company Carreker Corp. last month for $206 million, has said that buying Corillian would help CheckFree expand its capabilities beyond bill pay.

Steve Olsen, CheckFree's chief operating officer, said the Atlanta company would provide details on upcoming product enhancements over the next six weeks.

"You'll start to see incremental changes as early as the end of the summer," he said in an interview Tuesday, when the closing of the Corillian deal was announced. "It's not going to be a big-bang effect" with everything happening at once.
