Chinese Estates, Chmn Hold 5.12% Stake In Ping An Insurance

HONG KONG (Dow Jones)-- Chinese Estates Holdings Ltd. (0127.HK) Chairman JosephLau Luen-hung has increased his stake in Ping An Insurance (Group) Co. of ChinaLtd. (2318.HK), bringing the total holdings of the Hong Kong-listed developerand its chairman to 5.12% of the insurer.

Lau Thursday bought 3.4 million Ping An shares for HK$219.5 million, anaverage price of HK$64.56 a share, the insurer said in a stock exchange filinglate Monday.

Lau and Chinese Estates now collectively own 131.3 million Ping An shares. Lauowns 42.8 million shares in his personal capacity, while Chinese Estates holdsthe remaining 88.5 million shares, according to the filing.

Lau owns 47.3% of Chinese Estates , the filing said.

Ping An is China's second-largest insurer by premiums after China LifeInsurance Co.
