Citizens of R.I. Names W.K. Wray Sr. Info Chief

Citizens Financial Group Inc. in Providence, R.I., promoted William Keeley Wray Sr. to chief information officer.

Mr. Wray was executive vice president of technology resource management and headed the company's year-2000 compliance effort. He joined the company in 1993 as vice president of credit policy and reporting. Before that he worked at Hartford, Conn.-based Shawmut Bank, which is now owned by FleetBoston Financial Corp.

Citizens, which is owned by Royal Bank of Scotland, has $29.3 billion of assets.


MIDDLE ATLANTICMellon Financial Corp. in Pittsburgh hired Maria T. DiPalma to be a vice president and mortgage calling officer in the jumbo mortgage group of its Boston Co. subsidiary.

Ms. DiPalma is to work out of the group's New York office. She joined from PNC Mortgage Corporation of America in Melville, N.Y. Before that she was a loan officer at Fleet Mortgage Corp. and a personal financial services officer at Chase Manhattan Bank.


SOUTHEASTHibernia National Bank in New Orleans has promoted Kelly Fogarty and Gary Culbertson to vice president.

Mr. Fogarty is to be in charge of developing consumer and small-business advertising in the marketing communications department. He was a banking officer. He joined the bank in 1997 and has 15 years of marketing and advertising experience.

Mr. Culbertson is a portfolio manager for energy and energy-service-related companies. He joined the bank in 1995 and has five years of banking experience.

Hibernia also promoted Patricia Gilliken and Barbara Schomaker to assistant vice president.

Ms. Gilliken is in responsible for verifying loans booked to the banking loan system, as well as for maintenance of and monetary transactions on the system. She was a banking officer in the advanced loan systems department and has 10 years of banking experience.

Ms. Schomaker supervises the support team for converting merged banks' data to Hibernia's loan system. She was a banking officer in the loan system support department and has 15 years of banking experience.


WESTSanwa Bank California in Los Angeles promoted Paul V. Woolway to senior vice president and head of planning and administration in the community and retail banking group.

Mr. Woolway was head of planning and administration for strategic project planning and business improvement, and he managed the retail customer information database.

He joined the bank in 1998 as head of strategic project planning and business improvement. Earlier he worked in the financial services consulting practices at Arthur Andersen and KPMG Peat Marwick. Sanwa Bank California is a subsidiary of Tokyo-based Sanwa Bank Ltd.

Bankers Trust Private Banking in Los Angeles hired Tony Orme to be a relationship manager and vice president.

Mr. Orme is to develop business in high-net-worth private banking. He was a relationship manager at New York-based Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. and, before that, worked for Bel Air Advisors and Fidelity Investments.
