Clearing House Group Planning TV Ads for Direct Bill Payment

The National Automated Clearing House Association has hired actress Lindsay Wagner to star in televised public service announcements that promote the use of direct bill payment.

The announcements, which will be aimed at 91 million households, will inform the public of the convenience of automating payments of such recurring bills as utilities, mortgages, and car loans.

Nacha, the trade group that makes rules for the automated clearing house network, plans to start sending public service announcements to 300 television stations in April.

In addition to Nacha, the announcements are sponsored by the U.S. Treasury's Financial Management Service, the Federal Reserve banks, the New York Clearing House, and Visanet ACH Services.
