Colbert Praises JPM's Dimon During Benefit Concert

WASHINGTON — JPMorgan Chase & Co. and its leader, Jamie Dimon, received an unexpected endorsement this week from an unlikely source during the 12-12-12 concert benefiting victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Comedian Stephen Colbert joined a star-studded show that included nearly every major rock band and artist in the past half century, including The Rolling Stones, The Who, Eric Clapton, Roger Waters, Billy Joel and Nirvana (who had a new lead singer, Paul McCartney).

But during his segment, Colbert decided to give a shout-out to some sponsors of the show, including "Chase Manhattan Bank — the dopest financial services institution around."

"Do you know why they call him Jamie Dimon?" Colbert asked, referring to the bank's chief executive. "Because he's got a diamond grill" — meaning jewels in his teeth, a la many rappers — "and because they pay him in diamonds."

You can watch the full riff, which also includes Colbert telling McCartney to "grow up."
