Columbia Community in Oregon Changes Name

Columbia Community Bank in Hillsboro, Ore., has become Premier Community Bank.

The $339 million-asset bank said in a press release Wednesday that it chose the new name to distinguish itself from other businesses that also use the word "Columbia."

"We chose the name Premier Community Bank because it is distinctive and speaks to the type of services we offer our clients," Rick Roby, the bank's president and chief executive, said in the release. "The word 'community' is still our middle name because it reflects our personal connection with the communities where we conduct business."

Premier Community is a unit of Columbia Commercial Bancorp (CLBC) and has four branches in Oregon. The company raised $6.6 million in an August private placement offering.
