The biographical note about the writer of an Aug. 10 commentary, "Insurance Evolving to Address Banks' Changing Risk Exposure" (page 8), misstated the name of his employer and gave it the wrong headquarters city. David Hebbeler works for National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh; the American International Group unit is based in New York.


Because of an editing error, a passage in the Aug. 13 article "Rating Agencies Poaching on Others' Specialties" (page 1) mistakenly indicated that rating banks was a traditional business for Moody's Investors Service and Standard & Poor's. The reference should have been to rating nonbank companies.
