Departing Zurich CEO to Quit Chairmanship

ZURICH — Zurich Financial Services has announced that Rolf Hüppi, who had already said he intends to step down as chief executive officer, will also resign as chairman once his successor as CEO is named at midyear.

The board of directors said Friday that it intends to appoint vice chairman Lodewijk van Wachem to succeed Mr. Hüppi as chairman, subject to Mr. Van Wachem’s re-election at the May 16 annual general meeting.

The Zurich Financial Services Group provides life insurance and asset management products worldwide, focusing on the United States and Europe. It owns Farmers Insurance Group in the United States, which sells personal lines insurance through both agents and an alliance with Bank of America Corp.
