Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown, the U.S. private-client services division of Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. and Deutsche Bank Private Wealth Management in New York, has announced the hiring of Russell Smith by the firm's Houston office as a vice president and client adviser.

Mr. Smith is to work with wealthy individuals and families in the Houston area.
He was a financial adviser at Citigroup's Smith Barney division in New York. Previously, he held similar post at Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc. in New York. Before that, he was the president of Smith Development Corp., his privately owned investment company.
The company announced the hiring on Monday.
