Discover Financial Services said Thursday that it has signed up seven banks to issue Discover-branded debit cards.

The banks include four units of First Baird Bancshares Inc. in Texas: First National Bank in Munday; First National Bank of the Mid-Cities in Bedford; First National Bank of Baird; and First National Bank and Trust Co. of Weatherford. The others are ValueBank Texas, a unit of First International Bancshares Inc. in Corpus Christi; First National Bank of Barnesville in Georgia; and First Security Bank in Beaver, Okla.
Discover said the banks are in various stages of implementation.
The Riverwoods, Ill., company began pursuing agreements with issuers of signature debit cards in 2006. It also owns the Pulse PIN debit network.
