Dominion Hires Adams as Chief Financial Officer

James E. Adams, 47, is moving to Virginia to assume the post of chief financial officer and executive vice president of Dominion Bankshares Corp., Roanoke.

Mr. Adams worked in a similar capacity at Shawmut National Corp., Boston, for the past four years. Before joining Shawmut, Mr. Adams was executive vice president and chief financial officer at Third National Bank in Nashville, a subsidiary of Sun Trust Banks, Atlanta.

At Dominion, he will have responsibility for total management of the company's financial unit, with special emphasis on profitability, asset-liability management, capital, and expense control.

Mr. Adams, a certified public accountant, has 18 years of banking experience.
