East New York's Collins Elected '96 Chairman Of State Group

The 115-member Community Bankers Association of New York State, the primary trade group for the state's savings institutions, has elected Atwood Collins 3d as it chairman for 1996.

Mr. Collins is the president and chief executive of East New York Savings Bank.

In recent years, Mr. Collins was chairman of the trade group's committee on public and community affairs. In that role he started a public information program about the role of New York's community thrifts and community banks as providers of financing for housing development, consumer, and business needs.

He also was chairman of the CBANYS Products and Services Group Inc., a subsidiary that provides cost-saver and pooled-purchase programs for members.

Besides being president of East New York Savings Bank, Mr. Collins is a member of the management group of First Empire State Corp., the bank's parent company. Previously, he was a senior vice president in the treasurer's division at Morgan Guaranty Trust Co. of New York.
