Equity Bank to Sell Two Kansas City Branches

Equity Bank in Wichita, Kan., has agreed to sell two Kansas City branches to TriCentury Bank in Simpson, Kan.

A purchase price was not disclosed for the deal, which includes branches in the suburbs of De Soto and Spring Hill. The acquisition is expected to close by the end of this year.

"We continue to review opportunities for growth, and markets that fit our footprint, and give us the chance to make a difference," Brad Elliot, Equity's chief executive, said in a press release Monday.

The acquisition would provide TriCentury with access to a metropolitan market. The $3.7 million-asset bank has one branch in Simpson, a city of less than 100 people located 200 miles east of Kansas City. TriCentury plans to move its headquarters to the De Soto branch after completing the acquisition.

The $1.2 billion-asset Equity has 27 branches in Kansas and western Missouri.

The branch deal was first reported on Friday by The Wichita Eagle.
