SOUTHEAST
Community and Southern Bank in Atlanta has hired Herm Manderson as senior vice president and commercial banking manager.
Additionally, Jason Brown has been hired as senior relationship manager for the bank's real estate group.
Manderson has worked at C&S Bank, Bank of America, Regions and most recently, Fifth Third.
Community and Southern has $1.9 billion of assets.
Brown has more than 17 years experience in the banking industry and has held senior positions at Silverton Bank, Wells Fargo, Colonial Bank and First Union National Bank (later known as Wachovia, now a part of Wells).
Most recently, he was a senior lender at Atlanta Business Bank.
MIDDLE ATLANTIC
New Century Bank in Phoenixville, Pa., which does business as Customers USA Bank, and its USA Bank division hired James Hogan as executive vice president and director of enterprise risk management.
Previously, Hogan was the chief financial officer of Sovereign Bancorp Inc. and its Sovereign Bank (which are now part of Banco Santander).
Before joining Sovereign in 2001, Hogan was the controller of Star Bank in Cincinnati, which was sold to U.S. Bancorp.
New Century Bank has $800 million of assets.
MIDWEST
First Michigan Bank in Troy has hired Mary M. Fowlie as managing director of regulatory affairs, overseeing compliance and Community Reinvestment Act matters.
Fowlie was the president of the consulting firm Compliance Results Associates PLLC, and held several group senior vice president positions at LaSalle Bank Midwest.
First Michigan has $100 million of assets.
SOUTHWEST
Douglas B. Howland and Larry A. Norton have joined the board of International Bancshares Corp. in Laredo, Texas.
Both have been on the board of the $10.7 billion-asset company's International Bank of Commerce since February and serve on that board's executive committee.
Howland works in construction and Norton in retailing.
