Cole Taylor Bank of Chicago has made Kenneth J. Goldberg its managing director of corporate finance, a newly created job.

Mr. Goldberg was the group senior vice president of middle-market banking for the $2.9 billion-asset unit of Taylor Capital Group. He joined the bank in 1988 as a lender.


SOUTHEASTCapital Bank of Raleigh, N.C., has hired Mark Redmond as its chief credit officer.

Mr. Redmond, who has also been named an executive vice president, came to the $885 million-asset unit of Capital Bank Corp. from BB&T Corp. of Winston-Salem, N.C.; he was its senior credit officer for Kentucky.

Earlier in his 10 years with BB&T he had been a corporate lending officer and a commercial lender.


Monarch Bank of Chesapeake, Va., has promoted Barry A. Mathias to president of its operations there, where two of its six branches are located.Mr. Mathias was the senior lending officer at the $227 million-asset bank. He joined it in 1999 from First Coastal Bank, where he had worked in the commercial banking group. (Royal Bank of Canada bought First Coastal that year and merged it into RBC Centura Bank.)

Monarch Bank has also hired Andrew N. Lock as its chief credit officer and a senior vice president.

Mr. Lock was a senior vice president of risk management at Wachovia Bank of Charlotte. He has 13 years of banking experience.


Main Street Banks Inc. of Atlanta has hired David W. Brooks 2d as its chief financial officer and an executive vice president.Mr. Brooks was a senior vice president and the group executive in charge of strategic planning, treasury policy and research, asset pricing, treasury risk management, and Basel capital implementation at Wachovia Corp. of Charlotte.

He spent 18 years with the Charlotte company and the old Wachovia, of Winston-Salem. (First Union Corp. of Charlotte bought the old Wachovia in 2001 and took its name.)

Main Street Banks has $2.3 billion of assets.
