South Shore Co-operative Bank, a $180 million-asset unit of South Shore Mutual Holding Co. of Weymouth, Mass., has hired Susan Setterland as its director of retail banking and a vice president.
Ms. Setterland was a vice president of the business banking group at Rockland Trust Co., a $3 billion-asset unit of Independent Bank Corp. of Rockland, Mass.
MIDDLE ATLANTICNational Penn Bancshares Inc. of Boyertown, Pa., has hired Michael A. Meeneghan as the president of its National Penn Insurance Agency Inc., which is based in Doylestown.
He came from CBIZ Inc. of Cleveland. He had been the broker's head of new business development.
Before that he had been the sales manager of Addis Group Inc., an insurance brokerage unit of Susquehanna Bancshares Inc. of Lititz, Pa.
National Penn's two banks have $4.95 billion of assets.
SOUTHEASTFirst BanCorp of San Juan, Puerto Rico, has hired Jose B. Valle as the president of its $700 million-asset Miami unit, UniBank.
Mr. Valle was the president of BankAtlantic's Miami-Dade branch network. Earlier he had held executive jobs at Bank of North America (which BankAtlantic Bancorp Inc. bought in 1996) and NationsBank (now Bank of America).
First BanCorp bought UniBank last year and plans to rename its 11 branches FirstBank Florida.
SOUTHWESTSterling Bank of Houston has promoted Deborah Dinsmore from chief information officer to director of operations.
The $3.7 billion-asset unit of Sterling Bancshares Inc. also promoted her from senior to executive vice president.
Ms. Dinsmore joined the bank in 1997 as a vice president and an operations manager. Before that she had been an information technology consultant for Texas banks.
WESTColumbia Banking System Inc. of Tacoma has hired Clint Stein as its chief accounting officer and controller.
He was also named a senior vice president, which was his rank at the $120 million-asset Albina Community Bank of Portland, Ore., where he was the chief financial officer. (The holding company is Albina Community Bancorp.) He has 10 years of banking and accounting experience.
Columbia Banking System owns the $2.2 billion-asset Columbia State Bank and the $211 million-asset Bank of Astoria.
Temecula Valley Bank of California has hired Frank Basirico Jr. as its chief administrative officer and an executive vice president.
Mr. Basirico had been the senior loan officer and an executive vice president at Citizens Business Bank of Ontario, Calif., for the past nine years. He has 28 years of commercial banking experience.
Temecula Valley Bank is a $870 million-asset unit of Temecula Valley Bancorp Inc.
Western Alliance Bancorp. of Las Vegas has hired Randall Theisen as its general counsel and a senior vice president.
He will also be the general counsel for its three banks: Alliance Bank of Arizona, BankWest of Nevada, and Torrey Pines Bank.
Mr. Theisen came to the $2.8 billion-asset company from Squire Sanders & Dempsey LLC of Cleveland; he practiced bank regulatory and financial services law at its Phoenix office.
Pacific Capital Bancorp of Santa Barbara, Calif., said Joyce Clinton will join it as chief financial officer and an executive vice president March 16.
She will succeed Donald Lafler, who will retire but will remain with the $6.9 billion-asset company as a consultant until the end of its 2006 refund-anticipation loan and transfer season.
Ms. Clinton was the CFO and a senior vice president of Wells Fargo Services Co.
She had held a variety of senior management jobs with the technology and payment operations business since joining in 1996, when Wells Fargo & Co. bought her previous employer, First Interstate Bank.
She has 24 years of retail and commercial banking, payment operations, and technology experience.
