Executive Changes: Burns to Lead 1st Savings of Moore County in N.C.

First Savings Bank of Moore County in Southern Pines, N.C., said executive vice president John F. Burns will become president and chief executive officer on Dec. 31.

He will succeed William E. Samuels, who will retire.

Mr. Burns joined the thrift in 1972 and has been second-in-command since then.

Mr. Samuels will remain a director of the $300 million-asset thrift. He had been the CEO of its predecessor, Southern Pines Savings and Loan, since 1967, and had directed its conversion to First Savings Bank in 1992 and its public offering in 1994.
