FirstMerit Corp. of Akron has hired Robert M. Leggett as the chief investment officer of its FirstMerit Wealth Management Services.
Mr. Leggett was the chief investment officer of Gries Financial LLC, a Cleveland asset management firm, for the past five years. Before that he had been the president and a managing director at National City Investment Management Co. Earlier he had been the director of investments at the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.
FirstMerit has $10.3 billion of assets and owns FirstMerit Bank.
MIDDLE ATLANTICSignature Bank of New York has hired Thomas Bogue as a group director and a senior vice president.
He will be based in the bank's Garden City branch on Long Island.
Mr. Bogue was a vice president and middle-market manager in the Uniondale office of Citibank, where he worked for 11 years.
Signature Bank has $3.5 billion of assets.
Severn Bancorp Inc. of Annapolis, Md., has promoted Thomas G. Bevivino from assistant chief financial officer to CFO.
He succeeded Cecelia Lowman, who will remain Severn's controller.
Mr. Bevivino had been assisting Ms. Lowman since joining the company in August. Before that he had been the CFO of Luminant Worldwide Inc., an information technology consulting firm in Dallas.
Severn Bancorp owns Severn Savings Bank, which has $742 million of assets.
Jersey Shore State Bank of Jersey Shore, Pa., has hired Thomas Donofrio as its chief administrative officer and an executive vice president.
Mr. Donofrio was the president and chief executive officer of Enterprise Technology Alliance Inc., a data processing and information technology firm in Milton, Pa., that works with financial institutions.
Before that he had been a senior officer and a principal of S.R. Snodgrass AC, an accounting and consulting firm in Wexford, Pa.
Jersey Shore State has $544 million of assets and is owned by Penns Woods Bancorp Inc.
SOUTHEASTSouthern Community Financial Corp. of Winston-Salem, N.C., has named Durward A. Smith Jr. its vice chairman.
Mr. Smith is the chairman of DAC Products Inc., a door and window manufacturer in Rural Hall, N.C., and the town's mayor pro-tem.
WESTSilicon Valley Bank of Santa Clara has made Pamela Aldsworth its regional manager for the Northeast.
Ms. Aldsworth will oversee all business development and client relationship management for the Boston, Philadelphia, and New York offices of the $4.8 billion-asset unit of Silicon Valley Bankshares.
She was the senior credit officer for the Northeast. That job has gone to Dave Dailey.
Mr. Dailey will manage the design and origination of loans and lines of credit, and maintain portfolio credit quality for the region. He was a senior relationship manager in the bank's Chicago office.
AmericanWest Bancorp. of Spokane has hired Diane Kelleher as the chief financial officer and an executive vice president of the company and its $1 billion-asset AmericanWest Bank.
Ms. Kelleher was a senior vice president of funding and capital management at Washington Mutual Bank. She has 20 years of banking experience, mainly in asset/liability management, treasury, capital and debt management, and financial planning and analysis.
AmericanWest has also hired Greg Hansen as the director of commercial lending and an executive vice president for the bank.
Mr. Hansen had led the commercial lending team for Spokane at U.S. Bank.
Oak Valley Community Bank of Oakdale, Calif., has hired Bill Nunes Jr. as its marketing manager, a newly created job, and a vice president.
Mr. Nunes was a vice president and the sales manager for the retail banking division at Union Safe Deposit Bank, where he had worked since 1998. (BNP Paribas' Bank of the West bought Union Bank in January.)
Oak Valley Community has $330 million of assets.
