Fannie Vets' Firm Offers a Database

BlackBox Logic LLC, a Bethesda, Md., firm run by former Fannie Mae executives, has begun broadly offering a comprehensive loan-level database of the collateral for nonagency mortgage securities.

The company, which was founded three years ago and is majority-owned by a private-equity affiliate of Braddock Financial Corp. in Denver, said last week that it has available a service called BBxData that covers jumbo, subprime and alternative-A mortgage markets.

Its chief executive, Larry Barnett, was once Fannie's vice president for secondary mortgage trading; Chief Technology Officer William Pugh once was responsible for technology development and loan-processing systems at the government-sponsored enterprise; and lead data modeler Marty Schwartz once managed loan-processing systems for Fannie.
