Farmers Capital Bank in Frankfort, Ky., has hired a business lawyer as chief operating officer.
J. David Smith Jr. will begin serving in the newly created position in January. Smith comes to the $1.8 billion-asset company from the law firm Stoll Keenon Ogden PLLC.
At the law firm, where he has worked for 30 years, he currently serves as chair of the firm's transactional department and business services practice group. He specializes in mergers and acquisitions, securities and corporate governance, and complex contracts.
Smith's "working knowledge of our company and the markets we serve, along with his extensive community involvement in Kentucky, will be a great asset to us," Farmers Capital Chief Executive Lloyd Hillard Jr. said in a news release Monday. Smith "will add strength to our management team as we focus on continuing to build our financial strength and enhance shareholder value."
