FBS names Duane White as president.

Duane E. White has been elevated to president of FBS Mortgage amid a major shift in strategy by the Minnesota concern.

Mr. White, previously chief operating officer of the First Bank System unit, succeeds Michael J. Kozlak, who has resigned.

As previously reported, FBS Mortgage is dropping a nationwide loan-buying program and refocusing on retail originations in Minnesota and several other states served by its parent.

Mr. Kozlak called the strategy shift "the right decision for FBS" but said he wants to work at a company that operates on a broader scale.

He said he has yet to land a new job.

Mr. White holds an MBA from Harvard University and worked as a McKinsey & Co. consultant before joining FBS in 1984.
