Financial Services Panels Shut Down

The House Financial Services Committee canceled all hearings scheduled this week due to heavy snow.

The Senate Banking Committee also canceled a subcommittee hearing planned for today with current and former regulators on systemic risk. The hearing was to address how best to equip financial regulators with the tools to monitor systemic risks posed by large, complex companies, products, and activities.

A new hearing date was not announced.

The House panel had planned a hearing today on winding down the Federal Reserve Board's liquidity programs and another Thursday with the Small Business Committee on small-business and commercial real estate lending in local markets.

The Washington area has been hit with two heavy snowstorms — one last weekend and another Tuesday and today. New dates for the House hearings were not announced.
