Firm Selling Leads for Debt Counseling

LeadPoint Inc., which runs an online exchange for mortgage leads, said it has expanded into facilitating the sale of leads on debt-counseling prospects.

Such leads are generated when people call debt-resolution hot lines advertised on television, radio, and in print, and leave their contact information.

In a press release issued last week, Marc Diana, the chief executive of LeadPoint, said the Los Angeles company's "platform is the most innovative and efficient way for publishers to monetize their inventory and the most efficient and lucrative way for credit card debt counseling and management firms to drive business."

LeadPoint's rival, Root Markets Inc. in New York, has also expressed interest in expanding its lead exchange to markets other than mortgages.
