First Horizon National Corp.'s First Tennessee Bank has added bill payment to its mobile app.
The Memphis, Tenn., company's mobile banking app lets people check account balances, transfer funds and view recent transactions. It also helps users find nearby branches and automated teller machines. With the recent bill payment upgrading, announced Monday, the app further lets people schedule payments, review them and cancel them.
"We are working to keep up with the technology and give our customers the functions they want — and some they haven't even thought of," David Popwell, First Tennessee's chief operating officer, said in a press release. "We're constantly on the lookout for the next great thing."
First Tennessee's mobile banking app works on Apple Inc.'s iPhone and Research In Motion Ltd.'s BlackBerry. It also allows mobile account access through a mobile Web browser or text messaging.
The mobile payment function is available only through the apps and the mobile Web page. Users must first set up payees with online banking before they can pay them through mobile.
