Fiserv, which announced the agreement Monday, said Huntington National Bank will offer HSAs to individual consumers but will focus more of its efforts on persuading commercial clients to offer the accounts to employees.

Huntington will use Fiserv's HSA account processing software, customer support services, back-office and operational systems, and call center capabilities.

Fiserv also will handle the online banking components of the accounts, as well as electronic funds transfers, item processing, and card production.

Norm Balthasar, Fiserv's chief operating officer and a senior executive vice president, said in a press release that several of its units collaborate to offer the HSA-related services. "By bringing this kind of teamwork to bear," Fiserv can offer Huntington all of the "technologies and services needed to provide their customers" with HSA products and services.
